Tithing
Birth – 2 years old
  • Bow head, fold hands, open & close prayer.
  • Show respect and love as they talk to God.
  • Know basic praise and worship songs.
  • The concept of giving to the church is taught (Song: I’m Giving Because I Love Jesus)
3 years old – Kindergarten
  • Knows how God answers prayers (Yes, No, Wait).
  • Says short prayers in small groups (8 words or less).
  • Gives thanks to God in prayer & music.
  • Understands basic idea of repentance.
  • Service projects done in the classroom (clean-up, help set up, etc.)
  • Children learn to give their own money to church.
  • Small Group Prayers from the heart (10+ words).
1st & 2nd grades
  • Personal prayer time at home encouraged.
  • Understand that repentance = changed behavior.
  • Children are praising God through prayer.
  • Understand that giving is a form of worship.
  • Can list some attributes of God.
  • Can define the term “worship.”
  • Praying specifically for others.
3rd & 4th grades
  • Journaling prayer requests and answered prayer.
  • Tithing 10%.
  • Understands and can apply to their lives the idea of worship.
  • Understand that prayer is worship.
5th & 6th grades
  • Understand that serving is a form of worship and are doing basic service projects.
  • Self discipline in tithing.
  • Understands what specifically happens to the general fund “tithed” money.
  • All topics listed above should be mastered.
