First Alliance Church Global Missions - "Enlarge your tent"

Dear FAC Family,

Our theme for missions in the 2009-10 year comes from these verses in Isaiah 54:2-3: "Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep. For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will dispossess nations and inhabit desolate cities."

Here we see the prophecy of God's people expanding His kingdom. The imagery is of a tent that is not nearly big enough. Too many people are outside and excluded while the infrastructure is too weak and wobbly. As God's servants, we are told to expand His reach, spreading out in all directions to maximize impact and to draw those he is calling into the fold. We are clearly challenged that now is not the time to hold back, hunker down, or save our strength. Instead, in this day, at this time, we are to deepen and strengthen the foundation so that we can stretch out the supporting structures for the larger tent that will welcome the multitude still lost and outside.

Our challenge in the coming year is twofold. We understand that God's direction to us is first, to expand our vision and horizon - to increase our impact in reaching the world, hand-in-hand with our partners. We desire to increase our commitment and allow them to reach more of those as-yet-unreached, and bind up more of those who are broken and battered. Second, in order to do this, we need to expand our support base here at home. We hope to see everyone who calls FAC home pitch in as we drive the stakes of our passion and commitment to missions deeper, and stretch the cords of our faith and support. We believe that as our local tent expands, we will see the Global Tent expand as well.

Be a part of the exciting work that God is doing here and around the world - from Brazil to Muslim Africa, from India and Indonesia, and right here in our own backyard! Put to test the undeniable truth in Matthew 6:21, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Won't you join us on this journey together, in this coming year?
