Dylan & Angie van Rensburg

We are Dylan, Angie and Raquel   indonesia edit.jpg

Angie was born and raised in Wisconsin where she has been attending First Alliance ever since. She was challenged into missions through various missionaries who came and shared at First Alliance. Dylan was born and raised in South Africa. In 2001, he moved to America with his parents. After being here for a couple months, he met Angie and started attending First Alliance. In November of 2003 we got married and attended New Tribes Bible School in Waukesha. It was there where we heard of tribal people around the world who live in isolation and have no access to the Gospel. There are even some tribal groups who have seen the results of the Gospel in neighboring villages and are requesting missionaries to come and live with them. They are dying without the Gospel because there are not enough missionaries to go. In 2007 we went on with the training and attended the Missionary Training Center in Missouri and in December of 2009 we graduated. We left for Indonesia in April 2009.

Having arrived in Indonesia, we will be spending the first one and a half years on the island of Java in a town called “Salatiga” where we will be doing culture and language study. Also, we will be learning more about the unreached people groups of Indonesia so that by the time we are done with the first one and a half years, we will have an idea as to which tribal group is ready for missionaries to come and live with them. The region we are looking at is the Maluku Islands. There are currently 3 tribal works in the Maluku region. In the past New Tribes had to pull out of some of the work due to the Muslim presence. Since then the government has minimized the violence and New Tribes is anxious to reopen those works. After we are done with Language and Culture Study here in Salatiga we will head to the region of Maluku.  There we will be doing survey work for a while before we find out what tribe we should move in to.  After the survey work we will take a 6 month furlough and then move into the tribe where we will begin projects like; building a house, finding a water source, etc. Our time in the tribe will be 4 years in and 1 year out. Once we reach a proficient level in the language and culture, we will begin to develop the chronological bible lessons in the context of their culture. The end goal of the work is to have tribal church established that functions on its own without the presence of the missionary, and that is reaching out to other tribal groups around them.
